The design interprets the Sudbury Basin’s comet impact, showcasing diverse layers of Earth’s crust that are now exploited by the mining industry. The imaginary, otherwordly flora symbolizes the life that has evolved to the present, nurtured by this significant geological event. This artistic representation highlights the enduring connection between cosmic events, natural history and modern human activity—symbolized by the lapidary stone at the center of each flower. The colour palette embraces the original brick of the building.
